Det er endnu ikke blevet bekræftet af Ubisoft, men nedenstående leak kan meget vel være det første rigtige footage, vi har fra det kommende Beyond Good & Evil 2. Det ser ekstremt fedt ud med en lækker visuel stil, der minder om en slags blanding af Mirror's Edge og Assassin's Creed - awesome! Jeg kan slet ikke vente, var nemlig helt vild med det første spil. Dette er uden tvivl mit mest ventede spil i øjeblikket.

Vi ved alle, at det første spil solgte utrolig dårligt, men hvorfor er der ingen, som rigtig har kunne sætte en finger på. Spillet fik gode anmeldelser overalt, men alligevel var der kun ganske få, som købte spillet. For nogle uger siden surfede jeg rundt på NeoGAF, hvor jeg fandt en meget interessant artikel, hvori game designeren Michel Ancel bl.a. snakker om markedsføringen af det originale spil, hvor man forsøgte at gøre ligesom Rayman-spillene. Han snakker også om, hvad den nye hardware kan gøre af nye ting i forhold til tidligere, således at man nu endelig kan indfri forventningerne. Det første spil gik nemlig meget på kompromis med, hvad man gerne ville, fordi der var for mange tekniske begrænsninger. Det er rigtig interessant læsning!
The interesting bit is when he says that they didn't put a great emphasis on the communication/marketing side because the first Rayman is a game that sold almost "on his own".
A new character, a new universe, good critics, and it sold a lot.
And they though it would be the same for BGE. "It was the team that made Rayman, it also had the new characters and universe, so we thought it would work out the same way"
"We overlooked the fact than, ten years or so after the first Rayman, obviously the market was very different, and we didn't realize the marketing side of things was so much more important than it was back then".
"Ubisoft was looking at the sales, waiting for them to pick-up, not knowing if they should up the marketing dose or not, and there was also Prince Of Persia at the same time"
So that's why it bombed.
He adds that even though it was a disappointment (obviously), the team didn't live it as a terrible failure or anything. They knew the game was great by the critics, they hadn't rushed it to the market.
When asked if it will be fixed for when Beyond Good & Evil 2 releases, he compares the two games.
"When we first showed the game (the first BGE) at E3, we had absolutely zero feedback from the press. They had to cover a lot of games at the same time, big blockbusters and highly anticipated games, and BGE wasn't one of them"
The difference is, he explains, the game has now kind of snowballed along the years, and people are actually asking for BGE2, it's now an anticipated game, and a lot more players know about it.
So the first one, even though it failed at first, acts like a pedestal for the next one.

Ser vold fedt ud, selvom kameraet næsten bevæger sig for 'flot' til at det kan være uberørt ingame footage, men hvad ved jeg :-)

Ja, det har du måske ret i. Dog ville man gerne have et mere filmisk spil, som motoren til BG&E1 ikke tillod,hvilket kan være grunden til de meget rystende kamerabevægelser i det nye, som ser markant anderledes ud.
Jeg har netop tilføjet et link, hvor der står en del om forventningerne til toeren, og at man ikke udgiver det, før det er 100% færdigt.
